For your convenience, a gratuity in recognition of outstanding personal service of $12.25 per Guest, per day, will be automatically added to your SM Account. This covers your Butler & Stateroom Attendant as well as all restaurant staff. Since our ships offer multiple open-seating dining venues and you will likely be served by many different staff members during the course of your stay onboard, the restaurant staff allotment is evenly distributed among them. Guests staying in Penthouse, Royal and Sky suites will experience superior Head Butler service in addition to Butler & Stateroom Attendant service; these guests will be charged an additional gratuity of $4.00 per Guest, per day.
Notice to Guests: Gratuities may be shared with other crew members depending on the particular service requirement. Please note that Bar & Wine personnel are acknowledged with the standard 18% of the beverages and wines billed for the service rendered.

Our crew works very hard to make sure that every aspect of your cruise meets the highest standards. This includes those crew members who serve you directly, such as HAL's dining room wait staff and the stewards who tend to your stateroom each day. There are also many others that tend to your care that you may never meet, such as galley and laundry staff. To ensure that the efforts of all of HAL's crew members are recognized and rewarded, a daily Hotel Service Charge of US$11 per passenger is automatically charged to each guest's shipboard account. If HAL's service exceeds or fails to meet your expectations, you are free to adjust this amount at the end of the cruise. The Hotel Service Charge is paid entirely to Holland America Line crew members, and represents an important part of their total compensation package. A 15 percent service charge is automatically added to bar charges and dining room wine purchases. In terminals, airports, ports of call and on shore excursions, HAL suggests that you extend gratuities consistent with customary local practices.
Also, certain staff positions provide service on an individual basis to only some guests. We encourage those guests to acknowledge good service from these staff members with appropriate gratuities. For example, for guests purchasing bar drinks the recommended gratuity is 15 percent. For guests purchasing spa treatments the recommended gratuity is 18 percent. Similarly, for guests using concierge and butler services, NCL recommends they consider offering a gratuity commensurate with services rendered.
The reason there's a fixed service charge is an important one: Our Crew (as are the crew from other lines) is encouraged to work together as a team. Staff members including restaurant staff, stateroom stewards and behind-the-scenes support staff are compensated by a combination of salary and incentive programs that your service charge supports.
Onboard Service Charges are additional. A charge of $12 per person per day will automatically be added to your onboard account.
Guest satisfaction is the highest priority at Norwegian Cruise Line. We have structured a guest satisfaction program designed to handle any concerns about service or on-board product quickly and efficiently. However, in the event a service issue should arise during your cruise please let NCL's on-board reception desk staff know right away, so that NCL can address these in a timely manner. It is NCL's goal to reach a satisfactory solution to any issue when it happens and make sure NCL's guests can focus on enjoying their cruise. Should your concerns not be met with satisfaction you can adjust the charges.
Casino dealers and Lotus Spa personnel do not share in the Hotel and Dining charge as not all passengers utilize these services.
A 15% charge is automatically added to your bar charges and dining room wine account. This is shared amongst the beverage staff and their support staff, including cleaners and utility staff.
