Overview
Charleston is a city in the state of South Carolina. The city was founded as Charlestown or Charles Towne in 1670. Up until 1800, Charleston was the fifth largest city in North America. It adopted its present name in 1783. Also known as The Holy City due to the numerous steeples found in the city. Charleston has a population of about 116,000. The city of Charleston is located roughly at the mid-point of South Carolina's coastline, at the junction of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers. The Port of Charleston is the busiest container port along the Southeast and Gulf coasts and ranks fourth nationally.
Things To Do
No trip is complete unless you visit the City Public Market. Here you will find stalls that sell crafty items, art, jewelry, and home furnishings. A great place for the whole family to visit.

Rainbow Row is a stretch of private homes that dates back to the mid 1700s. There are 14 homes and they are painted in every color of the rainbow. A great site to see.
