Dress Code
Daytime: Daytime dress on a Costa cruise is casual, such as light, cotton clothing or swimwear with cover-up. Tennis shoes or low heeled walking shoes are recommended for exploring ports of call. While most shore excursions do not have dress codes, some tours specifically prohibit shorts and sleeveless shirts and require ladies to wear knee-length skirts or slacks. Additionally, for those guests traveling to Northern Europe, sweaters, lightweight jackets, raincoats and hats are also recommended.
Evening: Your Costa Cruise will feature 2 formal nights on 7- night cruises where men may choose from tuxedos or dark suits and ladies wear evening or cocktail dresses. The number of formal nights may vary depending on cruise length and itinerary.
In the Caribbean, two nights will be informal evenings where men are requested to wear sports coats while ladies wear resort attire. On the remaining three casual nights, ladies wear casual resort attire while men may dress more comfortably in dress shirts and slacks with or without sports coats. (One of these casual nights is a Roman Bacchanal to which you may wish to wear a custom toga or accessorize your bed sheet/toga). Resort attire is the norm on the other evenings.
Age Restrictions
Caribbean: Costa offers group baby-sitting for children age 3 (out of diapers) and older. The babysitting schedules can be found in the Daily Program distributed onboard (private in-stateroom babysitting is not available). There will also be two 'Parents Night Out' during the cruise where parents have the opportunity to enjoy the evening worry free while their children will be entertained with special activities, including their own buffet or pizza party. Best of all these special nights are offered at no extra charge.
Costa's In Port Children's Program
Caribbean: Costa's In Port program offers children a variety of activities onboard to entertain them. Parents will receive information pertaining to scheduled activities at the beginning of the cruise. Ask about specially priced shore excursions for children 12 years and under.
Europe: Costa offers a comprehensive children's program throughout our Europe cruise season. The months of July and August are the most popular traveling times for families with children. Activities vary by ship and itinerary.
Minors Policy
Guests under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. On
selected seasonal departures, guests 21 to 24 years old must have one person at
least 25 years old in the same stateroom.
Medical Care
There is a physician and nurse available
24 hours a day while at sea and during scheduled hours of the day while in port.
All Costa ships are equipped with an infirmary. Professional services, care and
medications are available at a reasonable cost. The medical staff can also
provide medication to relieve any symptoms of seasickness. If you require
prescription medications, bring an ample supply. Some prescription medications,
might not be available onboard or ashore.
Tipping
The service charge, which is calculated daily according to the length of the cruise, the destination, and the ship, is used to provide incentive to staff who perform hotel duties and to continually improve the quality of service offered onboard Costa Cruises ships. The service charge is an integral part of the cruise and therefore the amount cannot be altered. As a convenience, Costa Cruises will add a modest service charge per person, per night to the onboard account as a gratuity for cabin and dining services. Bartenders, servers, deck stewards and other staff may be tipped as service is received. A 15% gratuity is added to beverage purchases which are added to the onboard account.
