    Fort Conde, also known as Fort Charlotte, officially opened to the public in 1976, but it dates back to the 18th century. If you're interested in learning more about the city's deep history, this is the place to understand it and experience it firsthand!

    You'll want to spend at least a half-day here to experience everything that Fort Conde has to offer fully. Around the corner is another museum, the Conde-Charlotte Museum. Visit this too if you have the time!

    Downtown Mobile is exceptionally picturesque and historical, so it's one of the most frequented parts of the city. They seem to be in almost perfect condition and are painted in bright colors. They truly juxtapose against the city skyscrapers close nearby!

    If you're lucky enough to be visiting during the weekend, check out the festivals and open-air markets that downtown Mobile is most well-known for hosting. This area of Mobile is very walkable, so there's no need to drive around downtown. Get out of the car and experience the local life a little bit!

    Mobile Bay is located inside the Gulf of Mexico. It covers 413 square miles and is a great coastal view in the area worth seeing firsthand. There are many ways to explore the site; you could walk, hop on a boat, canoe, and more. If you have the time, be sure to hop on a boat and check out one of the few lighthouses located in the bay. The most popular and prominent ones to visit include the Sand Island Lighthouse and the Middle Bay Lighthouse.

    The Bartram Canoe Trail is one of the most popular outdoor spots in Mobile, Alabama, and even in the state. The trail first became established in the late 18th-century by William Bartram, who the route was later named after. There are many places nearby where you can rent a boat to explore the trail.

    Mobile is home to the oldest Mardi Gras celebration in all of the United States! There have been around 300 years and counting of festivals in this very city. The Mobile Carnival Museum informs visitors of the city's history with Mardi Gras and opened in 2005. It's curated by Edward B. Ladd. Inside the museum, you'll see the beautiful costumes, parade designs, and photographs marking the city's Mardi Gras history. You can even hop on top of a parade float!

    This museum is relatively tiny, and you will probably spend around 1 to 2 hours here at most.

    Visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception

    The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is one of the most beautiful churches in Mobile. It dates back to 1850 and was built in the Greek Revival style of architecture, making it an authentic stylistic piece. The church's exterior can't be missed, as it features bright gold crosses and roof pieces on its spires. The stained glass windows are also gorgeous and were heavily influenced by German design.

    The Oakleigh Period Museum House dates back to 1833. It is built on top of 35 acres and is near many other historic buildings in the area. It was built by James W. Roper, who mainly chose this spot because it had a clay pit! Today, this museum is frequented by visitors looking to learn about Mobile's 19th-century history. People who work at the museum dress in period clothing, which only adds to the experience offered here.

    The Oakleigh Period Museum House is only a short walk away from downtown, so you could easily visit both places in an afternoon.

    The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park features a World War II ship dating back to the mid-20th century, though the park itself was founded later in 1965.
