Activities

  • Visit Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the Queen of Denmark in the city and also the home of the Amalienborg Museum. Four buildings are situated around a square, and only Christian VIII’s palace is open to the public. Take a journey through 150 years of history with a tour through each of the rooms of the palace set up just the way previous rulers left them. Also see crown jewels, rococo architecture, and a large art collection.
  • Enjoy a fun night out on the town in Blågårdsgade. Around Blågårds Square and down Blågårdsgade Street are lots of stylish bars and nightclubs, venues for live music, vegetarian cafes, wine bars, and more. Visitors can find every kind of restaurant serving up a diverse choice of cuisine for every kind of taste. Don’t forget to sample the extremely popular craft beer.

  • The whole family will enjoy the excitement and thrills of Tivoli Gardens, an inner city theme park. It is the second oldest theme park in the world and attracts visitors of all ages with rides, attractions, and cultural performances. Kids will especially love the marching and music of the Tivoli Boy’s Guard- the children’s counterpart to the Queen’s Royal Guards. The brave can hop onto any number of roller coasters. Couples can also enjoy a romantic setting in the evenings with lamps hanging from trees and cafes for coffee and dessert.
  • Take the kids to the Denmark’s national aquarium. One of the largest in Europe and completely surrounded by water, it gives visitors the feeling of being underwater. Den Blå Planet (The Blue Planet) has an ocean tank filled with giant hammerhead sharks, moral eels, and rays. In another section see 3,000 piranhas and anacondas swimming. With interactive exhibits and games along with incredible architecture, this aquarium is a unique place for kids and parents alike.
