Show Honfleur Sailings
Honfleur is a harbor community in the Norman department of Calvados, in France. Located at the outlet of one of the principal rivers of France and in contact with the sea and supported by a fairly rich back country. Honfleur benefited from a tactical location which appeared starting with the Hundred Years' War. Charles V toughened the town in order to close the estuary of the Seine to the English, with the backing of the port close to Honfleur. Honfleur underwent a explosion in maritime trade after the end of the Hundred Years' War. This period sees the town growing with the tearing down of part of its fortifications on the order of Colbert. This rise was however restricted by the silting up of the port, which manages to still function today.
