Overview

Palm Beach is a city located in Palm Beach County, Florida, 65 miles north of Miami. Palm Beach has an estimated population of 10,000 people. In the 1890s, after Henry Flagler brought his East Coast railroad company south from St. Augustine, he built two luxury hotels on this isolated, palm-filled island. The town was incorporated on April 17, 1911. Joe Kennedy, father of John, Robert and Edward, bought the Kennedy Compound here in 1933. The Port of Palm Beach is the fourth busiest container port in Florida and the eighteenth busiest in the continental U.S.?In addition to intermodal capacity, the Port is a chief nodal point for the shipment of bulk sugar (domestic usages), molasses,? cement, utility fuels, water, produce and break bulk items.

In addition to the area's world famous beaches and sport fishing, Palm Beach County's Top Attractions include the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Clematis Street, City Place, the Palm Beach Philharmonic, Lion Country Safari, Dreher Park and the Norton Museum.

If shopping is your thing then visit Worth Avenue, it is located on the southern part of town, offers designer stores and high-class art galleries and it is filled with some of the most fashionable stores and restaurants anywhere in the country.
