Overview

Ponta Delgada is a metropolis on Sao Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal. It has an estimated population of 65,000. Ponta Delgada is the tourist nucleus of the Azores Islands. In the evenings, throngs of people stroll along the Dom Henrique Avenue. The airport is located on the western edge of the city, from which there are flights to the other islands and Portugal. Faja de Baixo is agricultural with pineapple cultivation. Faja de Cima is famous for its festivities. Where the locals show off arts and crafts, and they also have games and rides on the island.

Ponta Delgada has a recently built bathing facility that includes two seawater swimming pools, sunbathing areas, bar, locker rooms and first-aid facilities. With the help of a man-made breakwater, a small beach in a protected bay has been built.
