Willemstad, with a population of 126,000, is the territorial capital of the Netherlands Antilles on the island of Curaçao. The city consists of two quarters: Punda and Otrobanda. Since the city is in a perfect location, Willemstad has its own seaport. The port of Wilemstad has brought the island success. It became a center for oil refining in 1914.
