Overview

Kiel is an old port city situated on the Kiel Fjord. Strategically located to control the gateway to the Baltic Sea, Kiel has a long and rich naval history. While the city center was destroyed and rebuilt after World War II, much of the waterfront area survived and is still thriving. Visitors will experience an urban feel, plenty of beautiful green space, active nightlife, and relaxed ambiance, while a maritime theme influences everything from culture, to architecture, and from notable sites, to cuisine.
