Saipan, an island located in the Western Pacific Ocean, is the principal locality of the United States Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. Saipan is about 13 miles in length of mostly shallow waters. Having a rugged terrain, the ridge extends from the northern tip to southwestwards with a height of 1560 feet. The island also has an extinct volcano.
