Overview

The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by an massive city wall that is very well conserved and protected by UNESCO. Kotor is a town in Serbia and Montenegro located in southwestern Montenegro. The town has a population of about 18,900. Between 1420 and 1797, Kotor and its surroundings were under the rule of the Republic of Venice and the Venetian influence remains among the architectural influences. In current years, Kotor has had a steady increase in tourists attracted by both the natural attractiveness of the Gulf of Kotor and the old town of Kotor itself.

Things to Do

Visit the beautiful Cathedral of St. Tryphon. The cathedral of St. Tryphon is in Kotor. This Roman Catholic cathedral was consecrated in 1166. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful examples of Roman architecture along the Adriatic Sea.

In the middle of the city is the Clock Tower. If you get to enter the city through the town gate it brings the tourist to the square with the 17th-century Clock Tower, view a peace of Kotor history.
