Tianjin, with a population of over 10.2 million, is one of the four municipalities of the People's Republic of China. Tianjin has provincial level status and comes directly under the central government. Tianjin's urban area is the third largest city in China. Its ports are located on Bohai Gulf on the Pacific Ocean. Tianjin is generally flat with swamps near the coast, but hills do exist far north where the Yanshan Mountains pass through the tip of northern Tianjin.
A great attraction here is Beining Park, which has the main feature of the Zhiyuan Pagoda, which is about 244 feet tall. You can access it by stairs or elevator. Once there, you get a spectacular view of the park. Beautiful ponds that are all inter-linked by bridges. There are also carved murals on the inside walls which attracts visitors for pictures.
One of the largest Zen temples is the Dabei Monastery. It has two temples which one was built in 1669 and the other 1940. There are beautiful Buddhist carvings that are breathtaking. It also houses the gold Sykiamuni statue which is very stunning. A restaurant on site in case you get hungry.
