Dunedin is the second largest city in the South Island of New Zealand. It is New Zealand's fifth largest city after Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton. It has a population of about 122,000. The city is situated on the hills and valleys surrounding the head of Otago Harbour. The harbour and hills are the remains of an extinct volcano. Port Chalmers on provides Dunedin with deep-water port facilities.
A great attraction while you are here is Larnach Castle. This castle was built in 1871 and today is open to the public. The area that surrounds the castle is just truly amazing to look at. Beautiful architecutre and layout of the castle is truly remarkable. A great place to vist.
The Dunedin Botanic Gardens is another great place to visit. Filled with lush greenery, this is the ideal place to relax and walk around.
