Overview

Valletta, Malta is of the southern coast of Sicily. The island was colonized by the Greek. Then in 1530 it was liberated by the Norman King of Sicily, then it was donated by Charles V to the Knights of Malta. Valletta's excellent natural harbor and tactical location appointed Maltas history with the military powers of the succeeding epochs. Controlling the island was a requirement to anyone trying to dominate the Mediterranean. Valletta, is one of the supreme natural ports in Europe. Within its boundaries, the city reflects some of Malta's plentiful heritage of archaeology.
