Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and the seat of the Scottish Parliament. It is one of the major centers of the Enlightenment and both the Old Town and New Town districts were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Edinburgh hosts the annual Edinburgh Festival, which are a group of festivals held for about four weeks that start in August.
