Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest have two designated smoking areas. These areas are located in the aft section of the Looking Glass Lounge on the port side, and on the starboard forward section of the Pool Deck. Smoking areas have signs indicating that smoking is permitted there. All other areas of the ships are non-smoking. This includes Public Rooms, Restaurants, Pool Deck, Staterooms and Suites, Balconies and Halls. For the comfort of all of our guests, we request strict adherence to this policy, and thank all of our guests for their cooperation. Please note that the above policy is subject to revision in order to comply with current applicable health legislation, where countries have local smoking regulations. This may mean that smoking is prohibited except in designated outdoor areas when arriving or departing certain ports.
Effective on voyages departing October 9, 2014, or thereafter, all staterooms and suite accommodations are an entirely smoke free environment, including the outside balcony. This policy includes all forms of smoking, including but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarettes (E-cigarettes), tobacco pipes and personal vaporizers.
Note: Guests who smoke in their staterooms or on their balconies will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival's cruise ticket contract. Guest agrees to strictly comply with Carnival’s non-smoking policy.
Smoking Policy Q&A
When did the new smoking policy go into effect? Effective with any sailing departing October 9, 2014 and thereafter, smoking will NOT be allowed in any stateroom or suite, including the outside balcony. Cigarette, E-cigarette and personal vaporizer smoking will only be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas, as well as Carnival's night clubs (except on Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Vista), Jazz clubs (where available) and in certain areas within the casino (for playing guests while at designated slot machines and table games) and the casino bar. Cigar and tobacco pipe smoking will only be allowed in Jazz clubs (where available) and in designated exterior open deck areas.
Why did Carnival change its smoking policy? Given that nearly 90 percent of Carnival's guests are non-smokers, Carnival wanted to have the shipboard experience align with today’s guest preferences. Carnival constantly monitor all of the shipboard policies and solicit guest feedback to make sure Carnival stays up to date with consumers’ vacation wants and needs.
What happens if a guest is caught smoking in a stateroom or balcony? They will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.
With 90 percent of guests being non-smokers, why don’t you just make the ships entirely smoke-free? By instituting this change to Carnival's current smoking policy, Carnival is trying to strike a balance that will please all guests, both smokers and non-smokers alike. The guests will see this as an enhancement to their on board experience and have an even better time sailing with us.
How did you notifying guests and travel partners of these changes? Carnival has updated all of the collateral materials and communicated details of the change to the current smoking policy to Carnival's guests and travel partners via various channels. These include email distribution of letters, social media, and web site updates.
I don’t like the new smoking policy; can I cancel my cruise without penalties? The new smoking policy for stateroom balconies went into effect on October 9, 2014, allowing guest’s time to cancel outside the penalty period if they felt the new policy would impact their ability to enjoy their cruise. Once the penalty period starts, normal penalties will apply.
How does this compare to the smoking policy of other cruise lines? Carnival’s new smoking policy is consistent with the policy of most major cruise lines.
How does the new policy apply to team members? Shipboard staff is not allowed to smoke in any guest areas. Smoking will continue to be permitted in designated crew smoking areas. Team members with guest area privileges are not allowed to smoke in guest areas.
For your comfort and enjoyment, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, nor on any stateroom veranda. If you are in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to your SeaPass® account and you may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.
Additionally, there is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises Cruisetour products. We appreciate your understanding and adherence.
In the Theatres, Restaurants, Buffet Restaurant (indoor), corridors, halls, lifts and in the stairwells smoking is strictly forbidden.
There are reserved smoking areas in the lounges. Pipes and cigars may only be smoked in designated areas. For fire and safety reasons please remember to put cigarettes in the ashtrays provided and never throw cigarettes overboard
In keeping with the lifestyle trends of our guests, we wanted to let you know of important developments recently made to the smoking policy aboard the ships of Crystal Cruises. For the comfort and enjoyment of everyone, smoking will be prohibited in all indoor areas, except for the Connoisseur Club, effective with the first cruises in 2014. Outside smoking will be allowed in a limited number of designated spaces. The revised policy begins with the January 5, 2014 (v4301, Crystal Serenity) and January 8, 2014 (v4201, Crystal Symphony) voyages and eliminates smoking in all staterooms, suites, and corridors, as well as the Crystal Cove lounge and Pulse and Luxe nightclubs. Most areas of Crystal ships have been non-smoking for several years, including the restaurants, main entertainment lounges, all stateroom and suite verandahs, the Casino and Avenue Saloon.
These changes have been made following considerable feedback from our guests, the worldwide majority of whom are non-smokers. As always, our policies evolve with the changing lifestyles of today’s discerning travelers. The Connoisseur Club will remain as the only interior smoking area, along with designated outdoor deck spaces.
The safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests has always been a key concern at Cunard. With this in mind, as a direct result of the feedback we have received from our guests, we have amended our policy with regard to smoking on board Cunard ships. Smoking is no longer permitted in any public area with the exception of Churchill’s Cigar Lounge, designated areas on the open decks and the upper level of G32 on Queen Mary 2. Pipe and cigar smoking is only permitted in Churchill’s Cigar Lounge and on the permitted open decks spaces. Whilst smoking is permitted on private balconies, we would ask that guests are considerate and keep smoking in these areas to a minimum.
SMOKING/NONSMOKING POLICY For the comfort and enjoyment of our Guests, Disney Cruise Line ships have been primarily designated as non-smoking ships. However, it is recognized that some Guests smoke. To provide an onboard atmosphere that also satisfies smokers, portions of open-air decks on each ship are designated as smoking areas. Smoking is prohibited in Guest staterooms and private verandahs. Guests who are found smoking in their staterooms or on their verandahs will be charged $250, which will be added their folio. All Guests must observe the nonsmoking areas and refrain from smoking pipes and/or cigars in any of the public areas. These requests are to provide a comfortable shipboard living atmosphere for everyone.
Presently, all indoor areas are designated non-smoking with the exception of:
- Northern Lights Disco (ms Eurodam, ms Oosterdam, ms Noordam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam & ms Zuiderdam only)
- Seaview Bar (except ms Maasdam, ms Ryndam & ms Statendam)
- Sports Bar
- Crow's Nest (except ms Eurodam, ms Oosterdam, ms Noordam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam & ms Zuiderdam)
All showrooms are nonsmoking during performances.
There are selected areas of the outside decks where smoking is allowable. Cigar and pipe smoking is only permitted on the outside decks.
Our ships do not currently have "nonsmoking" staterooms; however, all rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each cruise to assure the comfort of our guests.
All staterooms will be non-smoking areas, in addition to the other areas that were already defined as non-smoking. Smoking will continue to be permitted outside on stateroom verandahs. There are designated areas available for smoking both inside the ships and on outside decks as detailed above.
In an effort to diminish the presence of smoke indoors, cigarette smoking is only permitted in the casino, where ashtrays and appropriate signage will be displayed. Smoking is prohibited in all other public interior venues including all bars, restaurants, conference rooms, corridors, restrooms, staircases and landings. Guests may utilize the enclosed cigar bars on board Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Spirit for cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking.
In addition, the policy allows guests to smoke cigarettes, cigars and pipes in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks, where designated by the appropriate signage. Smoking is not permitted near outdoor venues which serve food, in open spaces such as the jogging track, sport complex, children's pool and in The Haven outdoor areas.
For the safety and security of all guests and staff onboard, Designated Smoking Areas are available on Deck 9, the forward starboard corner of the Pool Deck, and Deck 10, in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all Staterooms and Suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite or on a veranda represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests choosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck and accommodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and Pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward starboard corner of the Pool Deck.
In light of continuing legislative changes in smoking policies around the world as well as the comfort, health and safety of Regent's guests and crew, both in terms of the proven dangers of second hand smoke and the fire hazard that smoking presents, smoking is prohibited in all suites, staterooms and balconies fleet-wide.Not only does smoking present a fire hazard, but it is also an inconvenience to other guests as the smoke, or its odor, invades surrounding suites, balconies and public areas, creating discomfort for the guests in these areas (updated July 5, 2007; took effect at the end of 2007).
In addition, cigarette smoking is not permitted in any enclosed dining areas, whether it be the ships' main dining rooms or the alternate dining venues. Cigarette smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the outdoor Pool Grills. Other than open deck areas, the following are the only public rooms or areas where cigarette smoking is now permitted:
Seven Seas Voyager: Connoisseur Club, Casino, Voyager Lounge (designated area), Horizon Lounge (outside area only), Pool Bar
Seven Seas Mariner: Connoisseur Club, Casino, Horizon Lounge (outside area only), Stars Nightclub (designated area), Pool Bar
Seven Seas Navigator: Connoisseur Club, Casino, Stars Lounge (designated area), Galileo's (outside area only), Pool Bar
Paul Gauguin: La Palette (outside area only), Le Grill (designated area), Pool Bar
Minerva: Smoking Lounge on Bridge Deck
Pipe smoking is only permitted in the Connoisseur Club aboard Seven Seas Voyager, Mariner and Navigator. Pipe smoking in open deck areas is considered an extreme fire hazard and is not permitted. Cigar smoking is only permitted in the Connoisseur Club aboard Seven Seas Voyager, Mariner and Navigator, and in the designated area of the Pool Bar area aboard all four vessels.
Failure to comply with this policy will result in guests being asked to leave the ship at their expense, without refund or credit for the unused portion of their cruise.
Effective January 2008, smoking is only permitted in designated areas and outdoors on the Starboard side of the ship (contact the Guest Services for details). Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, theater, hallway or corridor. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom or on Oasis class Boardwalk or Central Park private balconies, however, it is permitted on private ocean view balconies of balcony/suite staterooms. A $250 penalty will be applied to the SeaPass for guests found smoking in staterooms or on the private balconies in Boardwalk and Central Park onboard Oasis class ships. Pipe & cigar smoking is only permitted within the Cigar lounge. If no Cigar lounge exists on the ship, there will be a designated area for pipe & cigar smoking, you will find out the location once onboard. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard. The new policy will go into effect aboard 18 of 21 ships initially, with Legend of the Seas, Rhapsody of the Seas and Splendour of the Seas following suit with the 2008 summer season.
