Manama is the capital and largest city of Bahrain. It is a long and important trading center in the Persian Gulf. Manama was transformed into an important financial hub in the Middle East because of Bahrain's oil wealth. Also, Manama was named the capital of Arab culture by the Arab League in 2012. THe Bahrain Internation al Airport is located in an island near Manama, which makes it a premier hub airport in the Middle East.
