Liverpool is a city and in North West England. The city is presided over by Liverpool City Council, one of five councils within the Metropolitan county of Merseyside. The population of the borough is about 441,000. Liverpool is still well-known as a sea port. In sporting terms, it is home to the football clubs Liverpool F.C. and Everton F.C.. In 1974, Liverpool became a metropolitan district within the newly created metropolitan county of Merseyside, it had formerly been in Lancashire. At the end of the century Liverpool was focussed on regeneration which still continues today, with the city winning the accolade of European Capital of Culture for 2006. Liverpool is also internationally famous for its connections with trendy music; the city is the birthplace of The Beatles, one of the most successful and legendary bands of all time.
If you are in Liverpool take a site seeing trip
to the Albert Dock. Where you can got to the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the
Tate Gallery Liverpool. Both places give you a taste of true Liverpool life.
Go to some historical Beatles sites like Penny Lane. Which is close to where
John Lennon and Paul McCartney grew up. Or go to Paul McCartney's actual house,
which has become a tourist site itself.
