Sorrento is a small city in Campania, Italy, with some 17,000 inhabitants. It is a very popular tourist destination. The town can be reached from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circum Vesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the bay of Naples, and many viewpoints in the city allow the sight of Naples itself (visible across the bay) and Vesuvius.
There is a lot of good shopping here on the peninsula, if shopping is on your list. Smaller boutique stores are scattered all over the area that sell unique items. It is a great place to go pick up a few things to take back home.
Now if you really want to relax, get away from it all, and get pampered, you must head out to Ischia. This beautiful island is in the Bay of Naples. Ischia is a spa island and is very famous for its thermal springs. Very lush greeneries wherever you look. Cafes and shops are also on the island if you decide to get something to eat.
