Overview

Parintins is a city in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. Situated on the banks of the Amazon River. On December 25th 1880 the headquarters of the city passed if to call Parintins, name come of the Indians Parintins, old residents of the place. Already in 1991, in the validity of the administrative division, the City was made up of four districts: Parintins, Parana of the Branches, Nhamunda and Xiburi. Later, the district of the Island of the Cotias was created, that in 1950 started to constitute the City of Nhamunda. Parintins has been branded to be one of the most kind cultural cities in the region.

Things to Do

Parintins is known for a prevalent folklore festival held there each June. It is the second-largest annual festival in Brazil; only the Carnival festivities in Rio de Janeiro draw more participants. The Boi Bumba Festival in Parintins, Brazil is filled with spectacular costumes, vibrant music, gigantic floats, and wild dancing.
