Thursday Island is the administrative and commercial center of the Torres Strait Islands. Lying 27 miles north of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, in Torres Strait. Thursday Island has a population of roughly 3,500. The economy of the island comes from by pearling and fishing, as well as a fast developing tourism industry.
Visit the Sea and Pearl Museum while you are in
town. Here you will find that the museum is dedicated to the pearl fishing
industry. A beautiful site to visit.
If you want to get one of the best views in the city, you have to head up to
Fort Green Hill. This is one of the highest points here on Thursday Island. Once
you are up here, the view is very beautiful.
