Overview

Pusan is the biggest port harbor city in Korea. With a population of about 3.65 million, Pusan is also South Korea's second biggest metropolis next to Seoul. The tightly populated city is situated in the narrow Nakdong River valley, with mountains separating some of the diverse districts. Governmentally, Pusan is designated as a Metropolitan City in the southeast of South Korea. In November 2005, the city officially announced its bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics Games.

Things to Do

If you go to Pusan you have to visit the Pusan Aquarium. You can observe over 200 species and up to 35,000 marine animals through underwater tunnels or acrylic-windowed tanks. There are 40 separate exhibits which include penguins, otter, piranha, and a touch tank for a hands-on look at a array of sea creatures.

Or you can go see the Bomeo Temple. This symbolic temple is located on the eastern slope of Mt. Geumjeong. It was founded in 678 A.D. by the Great Priest Uisang. It has since undergone numerous destructions and reconstructions. Most of the present buildings date from reconstructions of the 17th and 18th centuries. Bomeo is one of the biggest and most prominent temples in the south eastern part of the Korea.
