Charlottetown is a city and the provincial capital of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The population of the city is roughly 33,000. More than half of the Island's population lives within metro Charlottetown. Charlottetown was first incorporated as a town in 1855 and designated as a city in 1885. It is also the county seat of Queens County. Charlottetown is located on its harbour which is formed by the confluence of three rivers in the central part of the island along its south shore.
