Overview

Leixoes is an important port of Oporto. Which has an estimated population of 264,000. It is positioned in the north of the country, on the northern bank of the Douro River, just in from the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Oporto has a type of Mediterranean climate, but with a cooler breeze from the Atlantic which make it noticeably cooler. Oporto has always rivaled Lisbon in economic power. As the most important city in the heavily industrialized north, many of the Portuguese corporations are in this city.

Things to Do

You must visit the Casa da Musica which is the Portuguese House of Music. It is a major concert hall space in Oporto, Portugal. It was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, and was built as part of Porto's project for European Culture Capital in 2001 and was finished in the first half of 2005 and instantly became an icon in the city.
