Everything Silversea does, onboard and on land, is about safeguarding the guests and crew. Silversea ships provide a worry-free vacation! Here are some steps we are taking to ensure we keep you healthy. Silverseay has developed a comprehensive plan to respond to COVID-19 situations, just in case. Preparedness is key! If someone should fall ill or display symptoms while sailing, Silversea has rigorous protocols in place, including intensified cleaning, air filtration, and sanitizing procedures and medical isolation. Each ship has reviewed their inventory and are all well-equipped with supplies and personal protective equipment, such as masks and medicine.

REDUCED TRAVEL TO IMPACTED COUNTRIES

Along with a team of medical experts and guidance from health organizations, Silversea is monitoring the situation and either canceling or modifying itineraries to impacted areas.

ENHANCED BOARDING SCREENING

At the pier, all guests participate in mandatory screenings that include exclusion due to travel based on temporary restrictions and even a thermal scan to check everyone's temperature. Some guests may be subject to a secondary review. Dependent of screening results, some guests may be denied boarding to ensure Silversea is keep their ships healthy and safe.

HEIGHTENED SANITATION AT CRUISE TERMINALS

Before and after all sailings, the cruise terminal is thoroughly sanitized. And, boarding, each ship undergoes deep sanitation using industry-standard cleaners proven to combat bacteria & viruses.

ADDITIONAL SANITATION SAFEGUARDS ONBOARD SHIPS

With the guidance of the World Health Organization and U.S. Centers for Disease Control, all ships across the entire Silversea International fleet have elevated sanitation procedures. Key areas, which include public venues & restrooms, are sanitized approximately every 30 minutes.

HAND SANITIZERS EVERYWHERE

One of the best ways to stay healthy is to keep your hands clean. So, Silversea has increased the availability of hand sanitizer stations and continue to enforce hand cleansing at all food venues onboard. Hand sanitizers are effective against a broad number of pathogens, including Coronavirus COVID-19.

ENHANCED MEDICAL PROTOCOLS

Silversea has rigorous medical protocols in place to help those who aren’t feeling well, like complimentary medical consultations for guests with fever or flu-like symptoms, medical isolation when warranted, and intensified ship cleaning, air filtration, and sanitization procedures.

STATEROOM CLEANLINESS

Guest staterooms are thoroughly cleaned twice a day. During instances that guests display flu-like symptoms, their stateroom will receive an additional deep-cleaning.

DAILY HEALTH UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENTS

During each sailing, the Captain makes two announcements each day to remind guests to wash their hands often, use recommended coughing etiquette, and to report any high fever or flu-like illness symptoms immediately.

Minimum Age Policy on Silversea Cruises

Silversea cruise guidelines state that minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied, in the same or connecting suite, by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 21. If the adult accompanying the minor is not their parent, a parental consent guardianship form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian and received by Silversea prior to sailing. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol. Silversea reserves the right to refuse to serve anyone who in its sole judgment may be under the influence of alcohol, or for any reason necessary in its judgement to preserve the health and safety of guests and employees.

Silver Explorer cannot accommodate infants under the age of 1 year. Silversea Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper and Silver Spirit cannot accommodate infants under the age of 6 months. Guests must notify Silversea of any children between the ages of 6 months and 1 year who will be sailing on board the ship. A signed and notarised waiver will be required for all children between these ages. Although Silversea accepts guests over the age of 6 months (over the age of 1 year for Silversea Expeditions), there are no special programmes for children on board, and Silversea does not provide for the care, entertainment or supervision of children. Silversea reserves the right to limit the number of children less than 3 years of age.

In addition, the Zodiacs used for Silversea Expeditions are unable to accommodate children younger than 6 years of age. As Silversea does not provide babysitting services, an adult family member will be required to remain on board Silver Explorer with their child(ren) during Zodiac excursions.

Our unique and affordable Reassurance Programme is an any reason cancellation waiver that provides full credit on a future voyage if you have to cancel within the critical 1-90 days prior to sailing, no matter what the reason.

Silversea's Reassurance Programme ensures peace of mind and maximum flexibility when planning your cruise. It can protect you from the penalties and anxieties of cancelling your cruise for any reason within 90 days of departure. Instead of losing 100 percent of the total charges paid for your Silversea cruise holiday (including air, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel programmes and land packages), you will receive a Reassurance Cruise Credit for any and all charges paid, regardless of why you choose to cancel.

The fee for the Reassurance Programme is 3 percent of each guest's Total Holiday Cost when purchased with a travel insurance product that contains trip cancellation benefits. Proof of your travel insurance coverage must be provided at the time of purchase of the Reassurance Programme. When purchased on its own (without travel insurance) the fee for the Reassurance Programme is 8 percent of each guest's Total Holiday Cost. The Total Holiday Cost includes, but is not limited to the cruise fare, any of Silversea's optional travel programmes, and transfers.

Terms and Conditions:

  • The optional Reassurance Programme is available on 2009 and 2010 voyages with the exception of Grand Pacific Voyages 3907 - 3912 and Grand Inaugural Voyages 5003 - 5009.
  • The optional Reassurance Programme must be added at the time of booking and must be paid for in full at the time of deposit.
  • The Reassurance fee is only refundable on bookings cancelled at least 91 days prior to departure.
  • The Reassurance Cruise Credit does not include the Reassurance Programme fee or the Silversea GuestCare plan cost, if applicable
  • Regardless of the reason, cancellations under the Reassurance Programme will only be accepted 1 - 90 days prior to cruise departure. In order to receive the Reassurance Cruise Credit, the booking must be paid in full at the time of cancellation and cancelled at least 24 hours prior to cruise departure. "No Shows" forfeit the 100 percent Reassurance Cruise Credit.
  • If a Reassurance Cruise Credit is elected from 90 to 15 days prior to cruise departure, a credit will be issued (no money will be refunded) in the amount of total charges paid regardless of the normal applicable penalty percentage at the time of cancellation.
  • Silversea's standard cancellation policy terms remain in effect for any bookings cancelled 91 or more days prior to departure.
  • The Reassurance Programme 100 percent Reassurance Cruise Credit is not combinable with any other cancellation payments made through Silversea GuestCare or another travel insurance provider.
  • The Reassurance Programme is not insurance and is provided separate from Silversea GuestCare. Guests insured under Silversea GuestCare or another travel insurance product and who have paid the 3 percent of Total Holiday Cost for the Reassurance Programme, must provide a copy of the denial letter received from their travel insurance provider in order to apply for the 100 percent Reassurance Cruise Credit.
  • The Reassurance Cruise Credit is valid for travel within 12 months from the date of the cancelled voyage and will be issued in accordance with the cancelled booking as either air/sea or cruise-only, and will be applied after any other savings incentives are applied (i.e. APB, EBI, Silver Sailings, and Venetian Society).
  • Reassurance Cruise Credits cannot be applied towards port charges, government fees and taxes or the purchase of air upgrades, land programmes, transfers and Silversea GuestCare.
  • Reassurance Cruise Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable.
  • Reassurance Cruise Credits received as part of the Reassurance Programme cannot be used in conjunction with non-combinable offers.
  • Premiums paid for Silversea's GuestCare or Reassurance Programme will not be included in the Reassurance Cruise Credit.
  • Previously issued Silversea cruise credits or Shipboard Credits will not be included in the Reassurance Cruise Credit but will be returned to guests for their future use and will be subject to the credit's original terms and conditions. If the original credit's expiration date is earlier than that of the Reassurance Cruise Credit, a new cruise credit or Shipboard Credit will be issued to correspond with the expiration date of the Reassurance Cruise Credit.
  • The Reassurance Programme is subject to change or withdrawal without prior notice.

Any residual Reassurance Cruise Credit balance resulting from the cancellation penalty imposed may be applied to a future voyage that embarks during the original twelve month period.   • The Reassurance Programme is not available to those passengers booking their Silversea cruise holiday using a Reassurance Cruise Credit, unless the total value of the cruise holiday exceeds the Reasurrance Cruise Credit in which case the Reassurance Programme will only be offered on the portion of the total charges which exceeds the Reassurance Cruise Credit.
  • The Reassurance Cruise Credit may only be used to book travel during the allowed twelve month period. If cancellation is made on travel booked using a Reassurance Cruise Credit, the value of the Reassurance Cruise Credit will be subject to Silversea's standard cancellation policy terms. Fuel Surcharge Policy on Silversea Cruises

In the event of any significant change in such costs beyond Silversea's control, including but not limited to increases in the price of fuel, currency fluctuations affecting Silversea's costs, increases in government taxes or levies, or increased security costs, Silversea reserves the right to surcharge passengers to cover such unexpected costs. Silversea has the right to refuse to transport passengers unless the additional surcharge is paid in advance of initial departure.

Tipping Policy on Silversea Cruises

All gratuities aboard ship are included in your cruise fare; none are expected.

Payments / Refunds on on Silversea Cruises

To reserve your Silversea cruise, a 10% deposit of the total cruise fare is required within seven days of booking or less, depending on voyage and time of booking. Full payment is due no later than 90 days prior to departure. Final documentation will be issued after receipt of final payment and approximately 45 days prior to sailing. All reservations are subject to cancellation if payments are not received by the due date and are guaranteed only when paid in full 90 days prior to sailing. Payments may be made by check (USD funds), VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card or Diners Club.

Smoking Policy on Silversea Cruises

In consideration of evolving consumer trends, and to further promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for all Silversea guests, staff and crew, an updated smoking policy will go into effect for voyages departing after 1 January 2013.

Smoking is not allowed in most areas of Silversea ships, including:

  • Guest suites and guest suite verandas (including suites, staterooms, verandas and balconies on Silver Explorer)
  • The Bar (main bar)
  • Pool Bar (except at specifically designated tables)

Cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in the following areas:
The Connoisseur’s Corner and in specifically designated outside areas. These areas include designated tables outside of the Panorama Lounge and the Pool Bar, as well as on open Decks 9 and 10 aboard Silver Spirit, Silver Whisper and Silver Shadow, open Deck 9 aboard Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, and open Deck 6 aboard Silver Explorer. Cigarette smoking only is permitted outside La Terrazza. Silversea kindly requests that guests observe the non-smoking areas.

Silversea never did provide useful and requested details of the Peru pre-cruise excursion, but it did turn out well. The only exception was that they failed to include us on the list for airport transfers to and from the day hotel in Guayaquil and said we had not paid for these transfers or the day room - which we had.

Silver Seas is better than it was 4 years ago when we left them for Seabourn. Suites are roomy and nice . They have 2 restaurants where you must pay extra for dinners, and that we did not like. Entertainment is so-so.

We were on the Silversea Cloud to Antarctica and it was a trip of a lifetime. It was our first time on Silversea and a first class experience all the way. A trip to Antarctica requires lots of flexibility in scheduling and Silversea has that down to a science. They went out of their way to make sure we experienced all we could - we saw all kinds of seals, thousands of penguins, and several whales. Our weather was perfect and our pictures are extraordinary.
